The Social Engineering technique isn’t only dangerous for individuals but equally dangerous for small\, medium\, and large-sized businesses. We want to encourage everyone to talk about scams and cyber safety to increase awareness\, educate\, and empower consumers to protect themselves proactively. When criminals target employees to try and gain access to facilitate their crimes\, employees will be able to stop and think before clicking on something that could be dangerous. Over 90% of all cyber threats start with email. One wrong click can launch a host of security threats\, which proves particularly hazardous for companies with limited IT staff and capabilities. The FBI released the Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) 2022 Internet Crime Report and statistics. The report showed an increase in overall damages from $6.9 billion in 2021 to $10.2 billion in 2022. We aim to help people recognize the warning signs to avoid becoming the next victim of fraud or cybercrime. This one-hour presentation covers the methods and tactics scammers use to fool people into giving money to the scammer. We will cover proactive strategies and where to report suspicious activities and scams. Participants will learn about recent scams in the local area.
