(Today’s post is a copy of our special newsletter.  We blacked out half the newsletter to show what it’s like when you only get half the story.)

WILL IT BE A “DAY WITHOUT WOMEN” (I.E. HALF THE POPULATION)?

Dear Innovation Women,

Today is International Women’s Day. There will be celebrations AND protests. Themes such as “Be Bold For a Change” and campaigns like #HerVoiceIsMyVoice. Many women are gearing up for a strike (#ADayWithoutWomen) to demonstrate what the workplace and business world looks like without women.
This is a special day – one focused on gender parity.  Our mission is gender parity at conferences and events. We want to see more women on stage at conferences and events because speaking out leads to so many important consequences for women. We were recently asked by the United Nation’s Academic Impact group to share why and how we do what we do. It’s part of a great series on how different initiatives relate to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.

We’re also blacking out half of this newsletter to show what happens when you only get half of anything. You can read the whole thing on our website.  (Webmaster note: Thanks for visiting us. Take a few moments to look around!)
When we asked women what they were doing, one answer (Kimberly) was “I’ll be at work. I’m the boss and if I don’t everything will go to sh** and I don’t want that.” Another woman (Christine) was attending a startup pitch contest to see what innovations other women were up to.Another (Susan) was gathering with the leadership in her industry to “challenge the status quo.” The IEEE International Women’s Leadership Conference is holding a special webinar: “Why the World Needs Confident Tech Women – and How to Be One” and 1 pm Eastern.
Whatever you decide to do – celebrate, protest, observe, speak out – know that it is the right decision for you.
