High achievers work long hours and often feel anxious about their performance, perfectionism, relationship conflicts, achievement, and imposter syndrome.
Inaccurate and unhelpful thinking about our circumstances when left unexamined can lead to intense anxiety, which in turn impairs our performance.
To cope with the anxiety, we either over-engage in problematic behaviors (i.e., overeating, overdrinking, overspending) or underengage (i.e., withdraw, avoid). These behaviors have negative consequences and keep us stuck in a vicious negative cycle.
