Tell us about your best speaking success story! How have you used the Innovation Women educational resources, network, database and/or services to help you drive business, book talks, make key connections, or land new opportunities?
I am in the Innovation Women portal several times a week for the purpose of connecting to others, learning more about how to navigate my speaking business and locating speaker applications that are suited for me! I also love the weekly virtual gatherings. The energy is invigorating!
Has Innovation Women helped you find speaking engagements, talks, events, conferences or networking opportunities?
IW has supported me in finding speaking engagements through Speaker Friends networking (other speakers have referred me) and available applications through the portal – applying to calls for speakers only works if you do the work!
Has your business grown through your affiliation with Innovation Women, our online community, Lioness Magazine events and services, Speaker Friend Fridays, BrightTALK webinars, or any other resources shared by our community?
Indeed. I have gained golden wisdom, confidence in how I present myself and many supportive speaker friends who have encouraged me – even driving more than two hours just to be with me at an event.
What is the most significant impact that Innovation Women has had on your career or business?
The most significant impact IW has had on my career is the affirmation that I am doing what I am truly called to be doing!
What do you like best about our approach/support?
It’s casual, real, simple and compassionate! I also love that it is a pitch free zone.
What is one thing you learned from Innovation Women that you will carry forward?
Speaking is an art which requires practice and due diligence as well as being willing to cultivate relationships rather than a one-and-done.
What specific results or achievements are you most proud of?
- A huge network of caring professionals
- Paid speaking engagements
- Continuity and consistency
Did anything about Innovation Women surprise you or exceed your expectations?
Bobbie is down-to-earth and so passionate about changing the landscape of speakers on stages to be a more inclusive group. I have never felt a single moment of “gimmick” with her. So refreshing!
Are there additional things that come up when you are speaking that you think we should help people understand better?
Yes, it is very important for you to know your bottom line in terms of what you are willing to accept for payment and if not money, what other in-kind compensation you are willing to accept. In other words, how creative can we get to be sure the speaking opportunity is mutually beneficial?
What would you tell someone considering our services, but on the fence about joining?
There is no question! What you get out of it depends on what you are willing to put in. If you enter the space with generosity over competition in mind, you will find yourself delighted with others wanting to give to you!
